Competitive Plumbing & HVAC

Central AC — sized right, installed clean.

Most central AC complaints (humidity, cold spots, short cycles) come from the wrong-sized unit. We size on Manual J — not square footage rules of thumb.

  • Manual J sizing on every install

What we install

From a single condenser swap to a full duct redesign.

Most homes don't need a bigger AC — they need the right one, with ducts that actually carry the air. We handle both sides of the install.

Condenser & coil swaps

Replace an end-of-life outdoor unit and matching indoor coil. We re-spec the line set, vacuum and charge to manufacturer specs, and verify static pressure.

Full-system replacements

AC + furnace/air handler combo replacement, all in one project, all under one warranty. Lowest total cost when the existing system is on its last legs.

Ductwork redesign

Adding rooms? Cold spots? We redesign ducts so air actually gets where it needs to go — often the difference between a comfortable and a frustrating system.

AC + heat pump conversion

If you're replacing the AC anyway, often a heat pump costs about the same after rebates and replaces both your AC and your furnace.

How it works

From phone call to walkthrough — done right.

  1. 1. Load & duct assessment

Manual J for the new tonnage, Manual D for duct sizing. We measure static pressure on the existing system to spot duct problems.

  2. 2. Honest written quote

Itemized — equipment, labor, line set, electrical, permit, disposal. No surprise charges later.

  3. 3. Clean install

Floors protected. Refrigerant lines vacuum-pulled and triple-evacuated. Charged by weight, then verified by superheat/subcool.

  4. 4. Commissioning + walkthrough

Static pressure verified, temperature splits measured, condensate routing confirmed. We walk you through the thermostat before we leave.

Why Competitive

We don't promise quality. We deliver it.

  • We size it for your house, not the catalog

Manual J load calc on every install — most contractors skip it. Wrong size = short cycling, comfort issues, and 20% wasted fuel.

  • Mass Save rebates handled for you

We're a registered Mass Save partner. Up to $10,000 in rebates on qualifying heat pumps and high-efficiency boilers — we file the paperwork.

  • Owner on every install

Rob is a Master Plumber (MA #MP17629). He's on every install personally — not a sales rep, not a sub.

  • Clean, labeled, serviceable

Our installs are diagrammed, labeled, and tidy. The next tech who walks in (even if it's not us) can service the system without guessing.

FAQ

Common questions about central ac installation.

  • Can you install AC in a house without ducts?

Yes — ductless mini-splits are the right answer in those cases. Single-zone for one room, multi-zone for whole-home. See our mini-split page.

  • How long does an AC install take?

Single-stage condenser/coil swap: 1 day. Full system replacement (AC + furnace): 1–2 days. Full ductwork redesign: 2–4 days depending on access.

  • What's the difference between SEER 14 and SEER 18?

Roughly 25% lower energy bills at SEER 18, but the unit costs more. We run the payback math with your actual usage and electric rate before recommending a tier.

He answered his phone at 6:30am. Within 15 minutes, Rob called and told me how to repair it myself — he did not take advantage of the situation. Saved me $300.
